Your estimated tax of Rs 145,000 should match the income tax on your filed ITR. UK visa officers cross-check declared income against tax records — consistent figures make your (or your sponsor's) funding story credible.

Indicative estimate for a resident natural person with employment income only, taxed under the progressive slabs of the Income Tax Act 2058 as set by the Finance Act for the selected year. It excludes business, rental, and capital-gains income, non-resident rates, remote-area allowances, donation relief, and multiple income heads. The women's rebate is applied to the total computed tax. Figures are not tax advice and not a substitute for filing with the Inland Revenue Department. Confirm your liability with the IRD or a registered tax practitioner. Abroad Ready.ai is not affiliated with the Government of Nepal.

How Nepal taxes salary

Nepal taxes a resident individual progressively: income falling in each slab is taxed at that slab’s rate, not your whole income at the top rate. The first slab is a 1% social-security tax (waived for SSF contributors, pensioners, and sole proprietors). Couples get a higher threshold on the first three slabs.

Set by the Finance Act each year

Slabs are reset annually by the Finance Act (आर्थिक ऐन) with the national budget, effective from Shrawan 1 (mid-July). Use the fiscal-year selector to compare years; each year’s rules are cited to the Inland Revenue Department and Finance Act.

Why it matters for going abroad

Banks and embassies ask for a tax-clearance certificate and proof of how your income is taxed when they assess your finances. Knowing your real tax and after-tax income makes your funding story specific and credible — the same things our mock interviews score you on.

Rates sourced from the Inland Revenue Department (ird.gov.np) and the Finance Act 2082. Need a tax-clearance certificate for your visa or bank? IRD tax clearance.
